At EFC‑T, we provide counseling services for children, adolescents, and adults who are seeking support, healing, and growth.
We understand that reaching out for counseling can feel like a significant step. Our goal is to create a space that is warm, supportive, and collaborative. Where clients feel brave enough to explore their experiences, build new skills, and move forward in ways that feel meaningful and sustainable.
Who We Work With
We provide counseling services for:
Young children (ages 3–10)
Adolescents
Adults
We have a strong focus on working with children and families, while also supporting adolescents and adults navigating personal, relational, and life transitions.
Areas of Focus
We support clients across a range of concerns, including:
Trauma, including interpersonal violence
Emotional and behavioral challenges in children
Anxiety, depression, and mood concerns
Life transitions and adjustment
Career and academic concerns
Relationship and family dynamics
Our approach is always individualized, recognizing that each client’s experiences, strengths, and goals are unique.
Our Approach to Counseling
Our work is grounded in a developmentally informed and relational approach that emphasizes understanding the whole person.
We draw from:
Adlerian therapy principles (encouragement, connection, and purposeful growth)
Play therapy, especially for young children
Trauma-informed and evidence-based practices
Experiential and expressive interventions when appropriate
For young children, play is a primary language. Through play therapy, children are able to express, process, and make meaning of their experiences in ways that feel natural and safe.
Across all ages, we focus on:
Building insight and understanding
Strengthening coping and emotional regulation
Supporting healthy relationships
Encouraging confidence and resilience
Trauma-Informed Care
We have specialized experience in working with clients who have experienced trauma, including interpersonal violence.
Our approach to trauma is:
Safe and paced according to the client’s readiness
Grounded in trust, choice, and empowerment
Focused on helping clients regain a sense of control and stability
Healing from trauma is a process, and we are committed to walking alongside clients with care, respect, and clinical expertise.
Working with Children & Families
When working with young children, counseling often includes a combination of:
Individual play therapy sessions
Parent collaboration and support
Guidance on reinforcing growth at home
Parents and caregivers are an important part of the process. We partner with you to support your child’s development while also providing tools and insight that can be used beyond the counseling space.
What to Expect (Adults)
Counseling at EFC‑T is a collaborative and intentional process, grounded in encouragement, curiosity, and respect for your unique experiences.
Together, we create a space where you can explore challenges openly, deepen your understanding of yourself, and begin to identify patterns, beliefs, and experiences that may be shaping your life. This process is not about rushing change, but about building insight and movement in a way that feels meaningful and sustainable.
Sessions often include a balance of reflection and practical application. At times, we may focus on developing tools for managing emotions, navigating relationships, or addressing career and life transitions. At other times, the work may involve slowing down to better understand your story and how it continues to influence your present.
Throughout the process, there is a strong emphasis on building confidence, strengthening self-awareness, and helping you feel more capable in responding to the challenges you face—so that growth feels both authentic and lasting.
What to Expect (For Parents & Caregivers)
Beginning counseling for your child can bring a mix of emotions. Hope, uncertainty, and a desire to make sure you are making the right decision. At EFC‑T, we strive to create a process that feels supportive not only for your child, but for you as well.
When working with young children, sessions are often play-based, as play is a child’s natural way of communicating, exploring experiences, and working through challenges. Through play therapy, children are able to express thoughts and feelings that they may not yet have the words to fully describe.
At the same time, parents and caregivers are an important part of the process. You can expect ongoing collaboration that may include check-ins, guidance, and support in understanding your child’s needs, behaviors, and growth. Our goal is to help you feel more confident in how to support your child both during and outside of sessions.
The pace of counseling is intentional and developmentally appropriate. Some sessions may focus on helping your child build emotional regulation and coping skills, while others may involve gently working through more complex experiences at a level that feels safe for them.
Throughout the process, we hold a strong focus on encouragement—helping children build confidence, develop a strong sense of self, and feel capable of navigating their world. At the same time, we work alongside you to strengthen the connection between you and your child, supporting growth that extends beyond the counseling room.
Service Format: Telehealth & In‑Home Counseling
At Encourage Forward Counseling & Training, services are offered through both secure telehealth and in‑home sessions for clients located in Fort Collins, Loveland, Wellington, and Windsor.
Telehealth can be a convenient and effective option, offering flexibility and accessibility while still providing meaningful therapeutic support. Many clients appreciate the ability to engage in counseling from the comfort of their own space, and for some, this format aligns well with their needs and goals.
At the same time, there are situations where in-person services—particularly in-home sessions—may provide additional benefit, especially when working with young children, family dynamics, or specific treatment goals that are best supported through direct, in-person interaction.
While you may already have a preference for telehealth or in-home services, the most appropriate format will be thoughtfully considered as part of the intake process. Together, we will explore your needs, goals, and circumstances to determine the approach that will best support meaningful and effective progress.

“Your intuition and compassion make you an A+ counselor.”
[Group Counseling] “It was always clear that he genuinely cared about each and every one of us."
“I honestly cherish every session because I always got something out of it.”
“Kody said at the start that if I liked him every session that he would find that as a failure because that means that we are not growing. I can tell you that is true, at times he invited me to look at things I wanted to ignore… I am leaving this counseling feeling more hopeful about my long term success than I have with previous therapists.”
